Prayer Before Worship – Lord, help me to be comfortable that I am not able to understand everything about You.

Hymn 724

Morning Praise, front of hymnal bottom pg 45

Old Testament Lesson: Numbers 6:22-27

The Lord told Moses to bless Israel with a blessing we use yet today.

22 The Lord said to Moses, 23 “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: 24 “‘“The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’ 27 “So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”

Hymn 191

Epistle Romans 5:1-5

The Father justifies us through faith in the Lord Jesus. Faith is planted in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. This gives us hope & joy.

5 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Hymn 194

Sermon Text: Gospel: John 16:12-15

The Holy Spirit leads us into the truth of salvation and implants Jesus in our hearts to make us right with the Father.

12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”

Titus: (1:2) eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time.
